Frequently Asked Questions |
||
|
Who the Heck are you? Why, hello. I'm Caitlin (Michaela) Carrigan. I like long walks on the beach, hiking in the hilltops, passionate ideals, 80's music, cooking, sarcasm, building empires, bird watching, and pot stirring. I also like partaking in all of those things whilst armed with a camera. You've been warned.

Where do you shoot? I am a New England (Massachusetts) based photographer, but there are very few places I would refuse to travel to for a shoot. Variety is the spice of life.

What equipment do you use? I have just added a D90 to my repertoire, though most of the pictures on this site were taken with my Nikon D40X camera. I was once the proud owner of a Nikon N70 (truly, my dearest friend for a decade), but he is no longer in the running. Though I miss B&W film photography, I am an entirely digital artist nowadays. I work with natural lighting mostly, but have started carting around lights and backdrops for indoor shoots.

Who designed your website? That'd be me. All hail Frontpage and knowing people with huge technologically friendly brains. And having the awesome that is Shawn C. and Roy Anderson. I am learning a broader range of web speak so the site may change again as I gain a grasp, but otherwise I speak Frontpage's praises.

How much of what we see is Photoshop and how much is Camera? Depends on the shot. I believe a digital darkroom session is just as important as a conventional darkroom with film photography. I will fine tune lighting and temperature and the like, but for the most part, what you see is what I got when I pressed click. My portraits will get special attention, but I prefer my subjects to be recognizable. (Unless it is an art piece, but that is a different subject entirely)

What should I bring/wear/do (etc) for a Headshot Session? Don't feel bad, I get this question before every session, but here is a good place to look for your answers. If you still aren't sure, email me with any questions and I will get right back to you.

What should I bring/wear/do (etc) for a Portfolio Session? Pretty common question and, in the end, it depends on what YOU want to achieve in the session. I do Editorial as well as Commercial work, so bring the looks and the ideas, if you have them, and we'll collaborate to get you the best shots possible. If you have ideas going in, talk to me about them when you book your session so I can prepare and work to get your ideas in motion. If you haven't any idea what you want, give me your trust and I will do my best to get you an array of shots for your portfolio.

Do you offer Makeup/Hair services? Under special circumstances, I do. I do not usually travel with an entourage so if you have need of such things, the appointment will need to be well in advance in order to clear the artist's schedule for the shoot. If the artist is used, there will also be a Makeup/Hair Fee for the session.

Where do you prefer to shoot? Anywhere. I love to shoot on location. In fact, prefer it and am always looking for new locations. Though the Middlesex County area and I are well acquainted.
