What Makes A Headshot? |
|
Before you schedule your shoot, take the time to look over your resume and consider what roles you are getting and what roles you want. Once you have come to a conclusion, decide your look for the shoot. If you need suggestions we offer these tips: Makeup – Be conservative. You may get away with intense or dark makeup in B&W, but in color it can ruin the shot and color is currently the film industry preference. A natural look is usually best. Hair – Style it at home and bring the essentials. A brush and barrettes are fine for the ladies, some styling gel and a brush for the guys if necessary. Facial Hair – Have it neat and trimmed. Unless you plan to audition for Grizzly Adams, then feel free to run with it. Clothing – Solid colors of the medium to darker variety. No big patterns or bright colors. If you bring black, bring one item among with several color choices. We don't want your outfit getting all the attention. Colors – Wear what suits you. Your skin and hair color will affect what you can wear. If there is a piece of clothing you look fabulous in, bring it. But always bring several options. Jewelry – Don't wear it! It distracts from your face and that negates the whole purpose. Costumes – Don't bring them. Unless you are purposefully using these Headshots to market a character performance, dressing in costume will only detract from you and limit the roles you will be considered for.
A few additional things to consider; come showered, fed, and camera ready. This will result in you getting the most out of your time with the photographer. If you're running on an empty stomach, the camera will catch that energy, or lack thereof.
